Hi, I’m Asha—like Asia, but with a ‘sshhh’ sound.
Welcome to Healthier Place, PLLC. 🌿
I founded Healthier Place, PLLC in 2016 (though its name was definitely different then—we’ve grown!). HP was born from the understanding of how difficult it can be to identify and connect with support that’s not just helpful or stimulating, but effective. When licensed therapy and behavioral healthcare are executed at their best (that is, with best practice, our highest standard of care, maintained and intentionally facilitated), research has demonstrated their support to usually be effective in bringing clarity and relief—and not just for the week or for the season.
At Healthier Place, delivering support at the best-practice standard of care is our commitment. This is support that actually helps us live healthier—rather than guidance on how to live distressed, more comfortably. This is crucial to finally breaking the cycle of daily suffering or “getting by” that could entice us to believe that the best life has to offer us is finding some way to make the pain, fog, or heaviness (due to our diagnoses/symptoms, traumas, history, or concerns) more bearable.
I struggled on my own and watched those I love struggle. I paid for coaches, became a doubly certified coach, cycled through therapists, read and google-searched till my head hurt, and became a clinician myself. Now, as a licensed marriage and family therapist, trained clinically, professionally, and through that good-old life experience, I serve our greater NC area as a behavioral health provider.
I connected the dots for myself. I love supporting others in learning to do the same.

Specializations and Programs

A special thank you to our patients and alum who have come through our programs!
Adult Survivors of Childhood or Complex Trauma Program
Helping persons impacted by chronic, often multi-faceted familial and/or relational early-aged onset trauma who now, as survivors, recognize that their foundation of self-concept, wellness, and relating to others has been compromised. This program supports patients in doing the work to process and recover from their trauma, understand and unlearn the impact of trauma, and actively lay the new, healthier foundation right for themselves and their lives.
Mental Illness Recovery in Christ Program | Fath-Based
MIRIC supports patients in integrating healthy and adaptive understanding of their faith and relevant practices, texts, and concepts within sound, best-practice clinical treatment in order to extinguish barriers, feelings of shame, confusion, and disillusionment, which often delay treatment advances and effective outcomes. Patients are also supported in treatment around resolving religious or spiritual shame and fear based distortions and traumas, which often lead to exacerbated mental health distress around understanding themselves and their mental health within the context of their faith.
Self Care SOS Recovery Program | Standalone
Helping persons recovering from codependency and self-abandonment as a result of childhood trauma break up with the toxic relationships they've learned to have with themselves, so they can experience and maintain the love and respect they crave in their everyday lives. This program's content is integrated within our signature ASCT and MIRIC programs; as a standalone, SCSOSRP specifically facilitates codependency recovery among childhood trauma survivors.
Management to Mastery Program
*Currently closed for renovation. | Teaching patients how to truly understand their chronic, neurodivergent, or personality based mental health diagnosis from the lens of their unique personhood/baseline and how these impact our presentation, experience of mental health distress, and unique needs and desires. MtM is for patients who want clinical treatment in a way that helps them learn themselves and the process of improving behavioral health for long-term changes based on their unique tendencies, so they can independently steward their mental health more effectively and decrease the likelihood of their need for treatment across the lifespan--despite their diagnosis. Clinical treatment integrates the TRP to also assists patients in increasing awareness, confidence, and competency around how this stewardship may need to shift and change across the lifespan, with guidance on how to identify and respond adaptively to shifting needs. Patients are guided in how to compassionately and properly process and apply the clinical information and understanding with their subjective and life experiences, increasing in feelings of confidence around knowing when to, how to, and for what purpose to integrate professional care in the future.
